The exhibition will highlight a faculty where science meets care for children

To mark the 90th anniversary of Volgograd State Medical University (VSMU), a photo exhibition has been organized to showcase the history of the Pediatric Faculty.
Archival photographs, significant historical facts, and plans for future development reflect the immense potential of the faculty, which has trained thousands of pediatricians since its establishment in 1969. Over 90% of pediatricians in the region are graduates of the Pediatric Faculty of VSMU (formerly VGMI-VMA-VolgSMU).
Over the years, the faculty has been led by distinguished scientists who mentored young doctors. The first dean was Nikolai Goncharov, and today the faculty is headed by Professor Natalia Malyuzhinskaya.
Key milestones in the development of pediatrics include the 11th Intra-University Student Olympiad in Pediatrics “ProPedOlimp,” the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Leaders of Future Pediatrics,” and the “Pediatrician School” project, which features classes led by top pediatric specialists, along with many other events in science and education. The faculty hosts 10–12 scientific and practical conferences annually, with a total of 63 regional conferences held over the past five years.
Faculty members from all departments successfully conduct research, integrating their findings into the educational process, with a strong emphasis on clinical consultation work.
The faculty also stands out for its active involvement in public life: future pediatrician Sofia Snigir leads the Youth Parliament of the Volgograd Region, and students of the Pediatric Faculty are among the leaders of the People’s Front Youth Movement.
